Research & Academia
Pocket Creative’s particular area of expertise is publication design, which lends itself to the wide variety of text-heavy documents and products often found in the realms of Research and Academia. I have extensive experience working with government agencies, colleges, and non-profits such as the Population Reference Bureau, Georgetown University, and Camber Collective and I am comfortable working within the brand guidelines of each organization.

In addition to the core products above, Pocket Creative is able to provide additional support research and academia groups including graph and infographic design, presentation production and clean-up, social media graphics, photo editing, and 508 compliance. Don’t see your design need listed? Don’t hesitate to contact me and we’ll figure out if Pocket Creative is a good fit for your project.
Graphs & Infographics
Step up your style.
Take your graphs beyond what Microsoft Word and Excel can provide to help make your publication look classy and cohesive. Having trouble visualizing a concept? I can work with you to figure it out.
Presentation Production & Clean-up
Elevate your content.
PowerPoint and Google Slides are notoriously finicky programs and getting a presentation to look professional can sometimes be a challenge. Send me your existing slides for some touch-ups or let me take the whole presentation production off your plate.
Photo Editing & Sourcing
Make your images picture-perfect.
My photo editing skills include retouching, color correction, and compositing. Need help finding images? I can search free stock photo sites or any paid ones you may have access to and provide you with options to choose from.
Social Media Graphics
Get the word out.
Planning a webinar to coincide with the release of your report or need to drum up attendance for a conference? Social media graphics that coordinate with the design of your product are a great way to get the word out.
508 Compliance
Make it accessible.
Section 508 compliance is the requirement that all federal agencies make their electronic content accessible to people with disabilities. If your organization needs their products to meet these requirements, I have that experience.
Experience & Examples
My experience with research and academic clients began with the Population Reference Bureau in 2017. My first project for PRB was an interactive PDF contraceptive primer titled “The Dynamics of Family Planning: Key Demographic Insights.” I went on to work with PRB on many more projects over the years including reports, fact sheets, toolkits, Powerpoints, graphics, and bulletins. I have since been referred to a variety of other clients doing similar work in the fields of women’s health, child development, and social justice at colleges and non-profits across the United States and abroad.
I find this kind of work deeply meaningful and am grateful to be able to lend my expertise to so many people who are striving to make the world a better place.
If you are existing in these spaces, there is a chance you’ve come across something I’ve designed. I’d love to help you with your project, too.
Ready for the next step?
With years of experience designing for the research and academia field, I am well-equipped to provide the help you need to get your project off the ground and into the world.
I am familiar with the timelines, lags, and red tape that often accompany this work and I am ready for it — I’ll fill out the forms, prepare the quotes, track the PO numbers, and invoice in whatever way your organization needs things submitted.
Use one of the contact options on the right to tell me more about your project.
